Prof. Dr. med. vet. et phil. II Michael O. Hottiger
Group Leader at the Institute of Veterinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Born in Zurich (Switzerland), where he studied Veterinary Medicine and Molecular Biology (University of Zurich). He then moved to the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA) before accepting 1998 a position as principal investigator at the University of Zurich. He was promoted in 2002 to full professor for Molecular Biology at the Institute of Veterinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Zurich.
In 2001 he received the Dr. Ernst Th. Jucker Award and in 2004 the PHOENIX Pharmazie-Wissenschaftspreis. He is also co-founder of DUALSYSTEMS Biotech AG.
The research in Michael O. Hottiger’s group is focused on the molecular mechanisms of NF-kappaB-dependent gene expression during inflammation and metabolic stress (metaflammation).
